In this RPG Maker Let’s Play, we look at the dungeon crawling game “Root of All Evil” by TheTitan99. A lot of people think that dungeon crawl games are easy, but the truth is that they are not: You have limited opportunities to develop characters and advance your story, and it’s all too easy to fall into the rut of “kill the monster/get the treasure.”

Root of All Evil accomplishes these with an elegance that we’ve not seen in many other games. It’s fun to play, the characters are unique and interesting, and there is just enough challenge. Overall, this game doesn’t have much it needs to be improved upon.

Having said that, it needs some more party banter, and some more commentary from the characters to develop them. What the creator has isn’t bad, but there could be more. We wanted more.

Also, the optional fights are a bit too difficult, even for optional fights, and need to be balanced a bit more. But not by much. The regular fights start out ridiculously easy, but soon require strategy.

Overall, this is a fun game, easy to pick up, with just enough challenge to make it interesting without being frustrating. We definitely recommend it.
